ORB

ORB – an exhibition of new work by Emma Barone

Orb 9.jpg

Emma Barone's solo exhibition, 'Orb', will be on show at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre from July 31st - September 10th, 2025.

The exhibition features Barone's exploration of the spherical form. Her long-standing fascination with orbs is translated into a visual language that blends the physical with the abstract. Through a sophisticated use of light, colour, and form, Barone reinterprets orbs, inviting viewers to engage with her work in a meditative way. The exhibition focuses on the interplay of light and space, offering a unique perspective on perception and reality.

This is Emma's 23rd solo exhibition & her 3rd at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre.

And it all about the Orb - an orb, in its simplest form, is a sphere, a circle, a symbol of wholeness and unity.

The inspiration… looking back photos of her previous works over the past 20 years, there were orbs floating around in some of those works.

It was a process of reflection, and from that retrospective gaze, "Orb" began to take shape.

Some of the artwork has been inspired by other artwork in this collection. All the work is connected.

There’s a strong connection between all the pieces because they all came from the same source.

There’s 34 pieces of art in this exhibition, 9 monotypes, 2 pieces on wood & the rest are acrylic on canvas and one acrylic on paper…. Orbital Multiverse…. This is the largest painting she ever made, measuring 5ft high by 12ft long – when installing she had to cut the ends off to make it fit.

The paintings are holding us in this space – in the present moment – perhaps a moment of clarity in a world of chaos.

Each artwork invites you

to pause

to breathe

and to find that point of stillness.

My hope is that as you move through the exhibition, you'll feel that connection, that sense of being held, and perhaps discover your own moment of clarity.
